When I arrived at his place in Eco Villia during a Halloween party, I accidentally parked my car in a ditch. Since it was already late, I couldn't get a tow truck to get my car out of the ditch. Larry invited me to sleep over.

In loving memory of Andrew Freeman
If there is one man I have seen transform the most during my coaching, it would be Andrew. While I was volunteering in the Theleme community in Costa Rica, I coached Andrew online. After more than a year of coaching him on a weekly basis, I got the news from Vaillant that he was in the hospital because he had been in a car accident.
That night, when I went to bed, I had a dream about Andrew. In the dream, Andrew had a choice: to fight for his life or to move on to the next one. The next day, when I woke up, I received the news from Vaillant that he had passed away.

We always talked about meeting each other in Nashville, where he was from. If there is one thing I have learned from this experience, it is that we don’t have a contract to live forever. If there is something you want to do in life, then take the leap—because at the end of it all, we don’t regret the things we did but the things we didn’t.

Niek came to me at a time when I was looking for support and guidance around a psychotropic medication tapering process. Over the course of many months, Niek helped me practically adjust to life as the medications began to leave my system, teaching me many valuable insights that I will carry with me even beyond when I finish the tapering process.
For one, he helped me release from my severe perfectionism tendencies. This has freed up incredible amounts of blocked energy so that I can better thrive. I can now "mess up" without interpreting it as a near-life-or-death situation.
He also reinforced in my psyche the importance of changing myself from a place of self-love instead of mere pressure, that no amount of fixing myself will lead to fulfillment if I am not willing to cultivate love for myself in this exact moment—regardless of where I am in my own self-created storyline.

As a result, I no longer feel like a puppet on the strings of people’s judgments. Most importantly though, he communicated to me the importance of being of value to others as opposed to being needy. This has helped me stop giving energy to trying to extract certain desired emotional responses from other people and really take up the reins on being of service in this world.
Niek is a highly disciplined and cut-to-the-chase kind of guy who is not afraid to challenge me in a firm but loving way. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who is starting on their medication tapering journey.
